NOTICE: HumaneCNY is CLOSED starting March 16 until further notice. In order to continue to care for the animals in house we need to keep our staff healthy and safe during this crisis, so we are closing the doors to visitors at this time.
WE ARE STRONGER TOGETHER DURING THIS COVID-19 OUTBREAK!
It’s important that we join together during this crisis and respond with thoughtful planning and care for each other.
HumaneCNY is following the latest recommendation from governmental officials. We have discontinued adoptions and pet surrenders until the stay-at-home mandate is lifted. All of our easier to place animals have been adopted. We have babies too young to leave mom, and animals who are a bit more difficult to place that remain.
Our community’s response to our fee-waived adoptions was great as we were able to place 8 cats the week before the shut down! We are not accepting physical donations (food, toys, blankets, towels) as it also puts the public at risk searching stores for items. We want you all to be safe! At this time we have enough food and supplies to cover us for a while. If we run low, we will let you all know.
We are protecting ourselves… we are strictly quarantining to ensure we are able to take care of the animals that remain in the building, and staff are following all recommended hygiene practices. We have plans in place to make sure HumaneCNY’s animals are cared for in the event of an emergency. We encourage all pet-owners to have an emergency plan in place for their pets. Make sure pets are wearing proper identification, have crates, extra food, and medications on hand, and identify a trusted family member, friend, or pet sitter who can care for your pet if you become ill or are hospitalized.
We have been asked WHAT IS OUR BIGGEST NEED ? At this time we are in need of financial help so we can pay our staff who are dedicating themselves to our animals and keeping the lights on!
We completely understand that everyone is in a state of financial chaos right now. We do not want to ask for anything we don’t need. If you can support us… please help us continue to keep the building running so that we can care for the animals. We would be very grateful for your help throughout this crisis. Stay safe and healthy!
Although we presently don’t know what the future holds, as long as we continue to have your support, HumaneCNY will be okay!
As a no-kill, not-for-profit animal shelter, our mission is to find loving homes for the animals who need them.
We have been the advocate and caretaker of homeless and abandoned cats and dogs since 1966.
We are proud of the work that our organization has done and we are determined to continue our mission, but we need your financial support to make that happen.
